Online banking

Online Banking

Advantages

  •  Monthly Statements can be done online rather than go to your local bank or atm. All you have to do is login online and download a copy of your statement. This adds a great deal of convenience for those who are hard pressed for time.
  • It is environmentally friendly because you do not use any paper.
  • You can transfer funds from one account to another without the hassle of going to your bank.
  • Moreover you can also schedule monthly payments to be made out of your account automatically.
  • Online banking has geographical convenience, does not matter where you are.
  •  Banking online means that the banks no longer need to keep their branches open around the clock, this means you can access your account 24 hours a day.
  • Online banking allows the customer of the bank to make financial transactions on a secure website which can be a retail or virtual bank, credit union or building society. It may include of any transactions related to online usage.

Disadvantages

  • Your account information might get hacked by unauthorized people.
  • If you forget your password you cannot access your account
  • Understanding the usage of internet banking may be confusing for a beginner. However there is some sites that offer a demo on how to use internet banking, but not all of them.
  • You cannot have internet banking unless you have access to the internet.

Barclay's
This website is used for online banking for customers that have a Barclay's account. Firstly to log on you have to put in your surname and membership number, then you have to put in your username and password. The security is safe because you have to put in a personal username and password, which will prevent fraud as supposed to only putting the card details, where someone could just find your card and type in the details. However it does not allow you to review debits and credits to account without downloading and processing very, very limited available data within another application for further spreadsheet processing. Furthermore transferring from one barclays account to another is not very flowing and customer service in india is poor

Santander

To use Santander you must have a sanatander account.  The online banking is easy to use and the  Statements are viewable over a long period of time (ie 6 months). Statments are clear and easy to understand. Transfer facility is very good and quick. Log in may seem cumbersome but it does make things more secure and Santander seem hot on security.
